Catholic?

I just wanted to share this with you.  I have a catholic friend who needs help!  He needs to see the truth!  I took this from another blog.

The Catholic Church claims that the apostle Peter was the first Pope. One glaring difference is the Popes invite reverence and awe but Peter demonstrated humility and fallibility.

In the online Catholic Encyclopedia(www.newadvent.org/cathen/12260a.htm) under: The Pope.
Kiss: The kissing of the pope's foot---the characteristic act of reverence by which all the faithful do honour to him as the vicar of Christ---is found as early as the eighth century.......

REVERENCE DEF: a feeling or attitude of deep respect tinged with awe; veneration.

Psalm 111:9 He sent redemption to His people; He has ordained His covenant forever; Holy and awesome is His name.

The Lord's name is Holy and awesome; the Pope is not awesome.
Peter never claimed to be awesome and he shunned being revered.

Acts 10:25-26 When Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell at his feet and worshiped him. 26 But Peter raised him up, saying , "Stand up; I too am just a man."

Peter rejected being revered and being worshiped, Peter was not awesome nor was he the first Pope.

THE POPE AND SCRIPTURE.

"We confess that the Pope has power of changing Scripture and adding to it, and taking from it, according to his will."Roman Catholic Confessions for Protestants Oath, Article XI, (Confessio RomanoCatholica in Hungaria Evangelicis public praescripta te proosita, editi a Streitwolf), as recorded in Congressional Record of the U.S.A., House Bill a523, Contested election case of Eugene C. Bonniwell, against Thos. S. Butler, Feb. 15, 1913. (Ref. www.lightministries. com/id523.htm)

Revelation 22:18-19 I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this books: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.

The Pope does not have permission to change God's written word.

Proverbs 30:6 Do not add to His words Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar.

Adding to God's word proves men to be liars.

Deuteronomy 12:32 "Whatever I command you, you shall be careful to do; you shall not add to nor take from it.

Men are not allowed to change God's commands.

Matthew 15:9 'But in vain do they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of Men!"

Man-made doctrine produces vain worship.

WAS PETER A POPE?

Galatians 2:11-17 But when Cephas (PETER) came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned......14 But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel...

The apostle Paul rebuked Peter and his Judaizer friends for perverting the gospel. Peter did not have the authority to change Scripture. Peter obviously was not the supreme leader or head of the church; he was rebuked by the apostle Paul.

Colossians 1:13-20.....18 He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He himself will come to have first place in everything........

Jesus Christ is still the head of the church, He is still the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

Peter was an apostle but he was not the Pope, he was not head of the church, he was not God on earth.
